Tailgate & Hatch Lid Covered

Covered the hatch with knotty pine, will get two taigate shocks from a minie van ,they work great at holding up the hatch. The tailgate covered in pine will swing completly down out of the way for when you are at the counter, the cooler slides right in out of the way and the double doors are for storage and a place to put the propane camp stove , 2 fairly large drawers for other stuff. Started to stain the outside oldie maple, should look OK when the pine trim is done

Rear Hatch Area

Rough version of the rear hatch , ripped 1/2" plywood to 1" width then clamped and glued them together to make the ribs, then cut out the shape from one peice for the strength. Framed out the inside of the hatch cover and will cover that with knotty pine. Didn't want the whole hatch in one peice it would have been awkward to open and stand under. Will make the bottom half to open like a tail gate and drop down . Here hatch is temperly fastened to see how it fits . Will fasten hatch with a piano hinge when ready
Other picture I started to crack fill all the little nicks and crannys so as to sand everything smooth and get it ready for stain . Starting to take shape .

Cuboards Finished

Finished the front storage shelf and cuboards and put up the trim ,top of the storage area is covered wiht cusion floor, [works great] easyto clean Finished the cuboards in the rear for the TV and DVD player ,one side has shelfs in it the other doesn't . Faced the cuboards all in knotty pine , The gally cuboards all faced in pine and so are the doors . One side a cooler will fit in the cuboard . The other side there is room for the camp stove and pot & pans [not too many of them I don't like washing dishes ] HA! HA! Two drawers for canned goods and cooking utensils, drawers made from plywood then faced . All the mouldings I made from pine boards ripped and sawed to size , not too bad once you catch on to it . Counter top is 1/2" plywood covered with cusion floor, easy to work with and looks good if you take your time and fit and glue it down right.Took a little time for this section ,tried not to make many mistakes , had to correct a couple. All is left is to fine sand everything .

Ceiling and Inside cuboards

Front part of ceiling with knotty pine ,seam will be finished with moulding. Cuboards framed out with 3/4" x 2" pine, two outside shelf's for storage , centre for a 13" TV an small DVD player

Framing cuboards

Framing The Cuboards

Framed out the cuboards with 3/4" thick pine ripped to 2" wide and the back wall was framed with 2x2 pine. The cross braces were3/4 " pine ripped to 2"wide also , need them inastalled right away or your walls will not stay straight . Made a shelf above the counter for added space. One side of the cuboards is a single door , wide enough for a cooler OH yea while the back wall was just frame work I wired it for electricty in the gally and in the sleeping quarters . 1/2 " plywood for a counter top works well ,just need to cover it ,that comes later.

Installed the braces And front cuboards

Installed the roof braces then framed out the back wall

Front and Interior Walls

Cut the front sections and installed them .Covered the inside with kotty pine pkg pine ,worked great easy to work with

Insulating Sides

Insulated the sides for warmth and will do the roof when time comes

Framing the sides

Cut 3/4" pine boards into 1" wide strips and used them to fram out the sides . after framing I insulated the sides with 3/4 " styrafoam insulation, all so planed to do the roof when it was time. Once the framing was done stood the sides up and screwed them to the floor and frame .the bottom framing was a little heaver for fastening purposes .

Making The Sides

Had to glue two peices of plywood together because of the length . Cut biscuit holes joined ,glued andclamped together. Had to make clamps long enough . Used the trailer as a work table ,[worked great] . Marked out the shape and cut the pattern . Could have used an extra hand wouldn' of hurt HA !HA!

Teardrop trailer[weekender]

Started out being curious, found blue prints of the weekender teardrop trailer and went from there Had the trailer made 9'x5'cause the body of the trailer is a total of 10' ,with the over hang in the front .
